Travel: Western Australia - Perth 2018 - Day 1

Finally, the day has come, for our family trip.

On the way to our breakfast after clearing passport.
Well, somehow to have the trip more memorable, there needs to have some hiccups.

Ebenezer, after paying for breakfast @ Burger King, realised he didn't brought his driver license out.

<thunder sounded... with lightning no less>

Most would have know, going to Australia, unless you are going with tour group, self-drive is the in-thing.
How to self-drive without driver license? Against the law lah.

And he couldn't make up his mind if want to ask Jolene to help to bring it over.
deliberated for a good 10minutes, in which his sister was constantly prompting me if there's a need, she can rush over.

While he still continue 💭 , I asked the sister to please swing over as soon as possible.

While Eben popped over to customer service to seek assistance on how to collect his license when his sister reached, i had to push Joash for umpteen walks up and down.
Luckily, he is tired (since he is up 4ish...), to really make a ruckus.

Phew... collected in time and off we went in search of our boarding gate.
Of course, if really not able to, i still have my license with me, and i will become the only driver. I wonder how much the trip would have changed. 😂

Us on the plane. Was a full flight, so our original plan didn't work.
(We booked seats with a gap in the middle. hoping if no one choose that, Joash might get to have a seat of his own!)

He was tired, so he managed to have a good nap for 2 hours. Or rather, we have a relaxed time for 2 hours, enjoying our breakfast! 😋
I didn't realised we need to order baby food when booking of tickets. so he had to take ours.

Landed! We had reached Perth. 😊

The blue sky that welcome us! Not a single cloud ...
And the cool wind blowing on our cheeks.

rented the car from Avis, the "tour-guide" for the whole trip. Served us really well.

enjoying the blue sky while on the drive

He in his designated seat! yes, a car--seat is a must, required by law. Actually, not just Australia, Singapore too. Just that the enforcement there is more stringent as compared to us.

Start of our road-trip. 😉

first stop, fill our stomach first. so pop by Fremantle, for the famed fish and chip @ Kailis...

Oh yes, baby-friendly, baby chairs can be found in everywhere we go.

Seagulls... lots of them.

First meal in Perth. and it taste really good

closer view.
Their clam chowder soup is really good too. thick and lots of ingredients inside.

Enjoying his fries... He definitely had lots of them on this trip.

The view, before we rush to our next location.

Welfie...

It is indeed the nicest fish-and-chips we had, during the whole trip. 😍

don't have much time to explore Fremantle but its part of our itinerary for other days.
Need rush to our farmstead @ Margaret River.

It is a 3hours drive. 😯
Estimated arrival time: 6ish 7pm.
The big wide fields.. lots of cows and more cows!
Literally, 牛比人多!哈哈

Sky turn dark real fast. it was only about 5pm when this photo is taken.
By the time its 6pm, its pitch dark.

To note, the roads don't have lampposts, only those beacons so high beam is important to help to light up the way, but do take note of oncoming traffics (not to blind them)

Finally we reached our farmstead. Yelverton Brooks & Eco Sanctuary.

We had freaked initially because the place is really pitch dark, even inside.
I can't imagine, if we don't drive, no way of reaching them after 6pm.

But all is good. we reached the "chalet".
Such a nice homely feel.

As it is dark, daytime photo will be under "Day 2".

What welcomed us in the fridge, fresh milk, eggs, coffee beans and butter!
They also prepared animal feed, for kangaroos, etc... so sweet of them.

We did manage to clear them by the 3rd day. Haha

the dining table. it really has such a cottage feel. loved it so much!

Winter time, of course a fireplace in the form of ... this?

We didn't use it eventually (Joash love to go and meddle with it)
The aircon allows hot air so wasn't that bad.

Look at the living area. Cosy right?
And its real brick wall, which really a good way to cool the place down in summer time, and helps to relieve the coldness in winter time.

I can imagine, its akin to staying in one house, everything is prepared for.
(but bear in mind, the kettle is rather dirty.. i used saucepan to boil water instead.
Then again, there's some weird taste in the water, no matter how much was boiled so we rely on mineral water most of the days...)

seasoning too.

and a whole shelf!!!

Its a pity by the time we reached the place, too dark and most places were closed.
else we would have drove out to get some fresh food to cook.

We draw up the curtains and guess what await us? Kangaroos!

So many of them! Eben braved the cold night to step out to feed him

at least 6 to 7 of them.

Here, the chalet we stayed in.
Jarrah chalet is a 2 bedroom chalet (i booked late, so the only one left.)
But i'm glad we have this, because the other chalets are much more ulu (much further in) as compared to this.

Here's the end of day 1.
Keep watch for the other days!
